October Crochet – Day 22, Brain-Dead and Making Ghosts

Ghost hat cat?!

Little Boo asks, “Is dat my baby bwuddah, or a hat for a cat?”

Today was another “burn-out-my-brain-cells” day, thus the switch to making a simple ghost instead of the spider web poncho. I swear, if I had known how brutal this month was going to be, I would have thought twice about doing a crochet challenge this month. And taking Girl Scouts to the archery range. And throwing a mystery party for the troop. And volunteering for the school fall flower sale. And volunteering for the teacher luncheon. And volunteering to drive members of the cross country team to races. And agreeding to sew 3 costumes for 2 girls…

I am soooooooooo tired. I may be a ghost myself before the month is out!

October Crochet – Day 20, The Web That Ate My Cat

Big crochet web!

Somewhere underneath all this yarn is a cat.

In my lap is my current crochet project – the silver web. Beneath that is my orange tabby, Marmalade. Beneath her is a cozy blanket, and beneath that is my heating pad because I hate being cold. And beneath all that, of course, is me. And as far as Marmie is concerned, none of these items is moving, because this exact combination of yarn, human, blanket and heating pad all equal cat Nirvana. Seriously, her little motor is just purring away, and she will not move for anything!

October Crochet – Day 19, the Haunted Crochet Bag

Crochet ghost!

“There once was a teeny, tiny ghost, no bigger than a house at most…”

Ta-daa! Here is my simple little ghost. I need to cut out a little round piece of black felt and glue or sew it on for the mouth, but he’s otherwise done. Princess says not to add the mouth, he looks perfect as is. I’ll sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow. Right now though, I’m ready to crash. I had yet another Girl Scout event to deal with, this one a meeting for service unit volunteers, and right now I’m all Girl Scouted out.

October Crochet – Day 18, A Zombie Makes a Ghost

Ghost in projects

Soooooo many projects, so few brain cells…

I am sooooooooooooooooo tired. I spent yesterday with the Girl Scouts at the archery range. Today, we had the troop over for our monthly troop meeting, and I spent 5 hours listening to a gaggle of girls discuss, debate and argue over what we’re doing over the next few months. It was exhausting, to say the least. So exhausting that I do not have the brain power tonight to work on either the Nautilus pattern or the spider web. Therefore I switched to something much more simple. So I grabbed some white yarn and just started crocheting in the round. This will eventually become a ghost, but for tonight, it’s just something to keep me from from using up my last 2 brain cells.

October Crochet – Day 17, Caught in a Silver Web!

Silver web crochet!

“Come into my parlour, my pretty little… cat.”

MWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! As my web grows, I ensnare more and more prey!!

(Which is actually not so hard when you realize that Marmie only ever sits in one place in the evenings. My lap.)

I spent most of today taking the Girl Scout troop to an archery range. EVERYONE CAME BACK WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF HOLES IN THEIR BODIES THAT THEY HAD WHEN THEY ARRIVED!! I consider this to be a great accomplishment. Now I just have to survive tomorrow’s troop meeting. And the troop murder mystery party next weekend. And the Halloween slumber party the weekend after that…

Oh GLOB, I wished they’d just shot me at the archery range!!!

October Crochet – Day 15, One Nautilus Finished!

One Nautilus finished!

Look at that spiral and all those frills!

I need to do a bit of hand sewing on this to finish up the rough edges of the netted yarn, but otherwise this one is finished! I’m going to do another with the second skein of Halloween yarn and then decide how I want to stitch the two together. Do I want to make a shrug, or stitch the two halves together to make a lacy poncho? I haven’t decided yet.

Tomorrow, I’ll get started on the next one, and figure this out when that half is done 🙂
