Well, once again I’m a little late getting this done, but there is a good reason. I’ve been working to draw better comics, and that means more active poses for the characters, more detailed backgrounds, improved inking, drawing the word balloons by hand, etc. I use Manga Studio 5 EX to draw the Cynical Woman comics, and it’s got a lot of interesting tools and features for making comics. Honestly, I’ve only just scratched the surface of what this program can do, but it seems like every week, I discover something new I want to try. While learning the ins and outs of the program does slow me down, I also think it improves the comics a LOT.

Anyhoo, yours truly will be doing a lot of gardening this year. I volunteered to work on the school grounds, pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc. Honestly, the school could not have found a worse person for the job, I think. But no one else had stepped forward to help this summer, so I decided, what the hey? I’m good at killing plants, so maybe I can at least put that talent to use to get rid of all the weeds.

Unless they get rid of me first, of course.

Let me know if you think the artwork in the webcomic has improved. I’m going to keep working at it regardless, but feedback is always nice.

Hurray! Another comic is up. I thought I’d never get this one done.

I try to work on the webcomic every day, but between taking care of the kids and volunteer work, my schedule gets pretty messy pretty quick. So I am drawing as fast as I can and posting comics as fast as I can. Of course, I did fall asleep on the couch this morning, which kind of slowed things down today. Oh well! That’s what I get for waking up early and exercising.

We’re surviving summer break so far. Later this month, we’ll be attending a 3-day karate camp in DC. That should be interesting. Meanwhile, I’m cleaning house as fast as the kids can destroy it. Lots of fun.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

I have no idea where that letter went. It was on Pixie’s window sill that night and gone the next morning.

I’ve been having fun working on the webcomic the last couple of weeks. I’ve been putting a little more time into the characters’ poses and expressions, as well as working on the coloring and effects. I’ve switched to doing the pencils on the iPad using Sketchclub, then importing the pencils into Manga Studio 5 to do the inking, coloring, dialog, etc. It’s just so much easier for me to do the pencils on the iPad. But Manga Studio is the best for inking and coloring these comics!

Today is Hubster’s birthday. That babyface is just 44 years old. What a youngster!

A few months ago, the kids started writing letters to the Doctor, as in Doctor Who. I know how to handle letters to Santa, but letters to the Doctor? Especially when one of the kids goes to sleep clutching the letter in her hands?! What would you do?

This happens every weekend. We watch Doctor Who and Pixie spends all night complaining about nightmares. Then she comes sneaking into MY room, saying she can’t sleep. Of course, Hubster can always sleep, and he sleeps through anything and everything, so guess who has to get up and take care of Pixie? Yeah, me. It’s gotten to the point where I’m getting scared of Doctor Who too, because it means I won’t get to sleep through the night!

I have been suffering from unexplained joint pain since September. And I know from previous medical issue that I should not expect a diagnosis any time soon. These things take time… a LOT of time.

But I do expect that when I’m having an allergic reaction to the medication the doctor prescribed, that maybe someone notice that rather than blame my allergic reaction on my hair dye. Especially when the allergic reaction in question started in the groin area, and no, I don’t dye my pubic hair.

Fortunately, I figured out why I was all red and splotchy even if the doctor didn’t. And I feel much better now. Even the joint pain seems to be doing better. I have no idea why my joints feel better, just like I had no idea why they were hurting so badly to begin with. But hey, I’ll take what I can get.
